The Omega Speedmaster Professional was introduced in 1957 and immediately became a much sought after timepiece. A beautiful and classic vintage Omega watch with an Omega reference number of 3570.50.00. The Omega Speedmaster Professional is nicknamed the “Speedy,” and is also referred to as the “Moonwatch”, due to it being the first watch to be worn on the moon in 1969.
Omega Speedmaster Professional is a manual winding chronograph introduced in 1957, this vintage Omega watch features small seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour subdials. The very first Speedmaster model contained the 27 CHRO C12 movement, the Omega 321. Its unique case was designed by Claude Baillod. Omega made some external design changes to the watch in 1960, going with the black bezel, replacing the arrow-shaped hands with dauphine hands and enlarging the case from 39 to 40 mm.
The vintage Omega watch was made famous by its selection by NASA for the Apollo Program. The Omega Speedmaster became the first watch worn on the moon when Buzz Aldrin wore his Speedmaster 145.012 fitted with the Omega 321 caliber on 20 July 1969. It is the only watch flight-qualified for EVA use by NASA.

A review of the Omega Speedmaster Professional
Vintage Omega Watch
I’ve had my Speedmaster Pro for many years having purchased it in the heady moon walk years. It is still my absolute favorite Omega model. I have had a few more recent models next to this one, but the caliber 321 with the nice metal applied logo really stood out. Maybe the moonphase model (either 1985 model or the current production) will be added to my little collection someday, but for now, this will be my one and only Speedmaster Professional.
I’ve always worn a replacement croc band but have considered getting the original metal bracelet for it. The display back is a nice feature, but it seems that every mechanical watch features one makes it a little tiresome.
