Stone & Webster, Steam Power Stations
teeblred July 8, 2009 – 6:04 pm -This is a very cool old 1920s book by Stone & Webster. Stone & Webster was a bigtime engineering company in the early 1900s with projects around the world.
One thing Stone & Webster did very well was document their work with very nice books of photographs. This particular book documents the various electricity production facilities that Stone & Webster built.
Power plants usually didn’t rate a postcard or magazine article, so a book like this, Stone & Webster, Steam Power Stations, can oftentimes contain one of the few period views of such buildings.

Fishing Lodge Decor With Fishing Decorations
teeblred April 11, 2009 – 6:15 pm -| Shooting for a vintage fishing lodge decor for the living room? It’s actually an easier to get look than you might think. Start with your colors, earth tones with plenty of dark browns and greens. The proper furniture is important and if a piece is too modern looking you might consider painting or covering with the proper fabric. Then you’ll want to display some fishing themed items and fishing decorations. You can’t go wrong with an old fishing creel, a bait bucket or two, an antique fishing rod display or some old reels. You can certainly go with replica items, but often the originals are available cheaper on eBay. Just be sure to not get into a bidding war with a collector. If you’re looking for fishing decorations you can go with the non-collectible items. Some ideas of fishing lodge decor items you’ll want to look for include camp blankets, trout-themed table lamps, fishing fly displays, fishing lure signs and retro fishing posters. Don’t go overboard! If you gather too many items, even if quality fishing decorations, you run the risk of having the room look cluttered or junky. As long as your color and furnishings match the theme you can get by with a few quality pieces and some knick-knacks. Keep in mind that fishing lodges tend to be fairly simple places and that simplicity should be part of your fishing lodge decor. Here’s some fishing decorations and fishing-themed items currently on eBay that would go well in any fishing lodge decor room. |
